We gave our movers beer one time since they preferred that over money.

Quoting ♥ G ♥:" Because the sever is running their ass off. Making $4/hr after taxes is hardly anything when they get ... [snip!] ... go out b/c the check and the tip would just be too expensive. But If we choose to go out, we make sure we at least leave 20%."

Well guess I won't go out to eat where people get paid $4 an hour. Wtf....is that even legal? Servers here get at least minimum wage. If one person tips below 20% it's really not that big of a deal, at least they tip. Both my SIL's were waitresses and they made about the same as DH did back when he made $13 an hour. Most nights they brought home over $100 in tips.

It may start at 7.25 here but that is the lowest I've ever heard of.

You're supposed to tip between 15-20% so that's what I do, sometimes more because DH and I both work in the service industry and we appreciate big tips so we pay it forward.

Since I am a server, I usually tip 20%, unless it was exceptional service, or not so great then I adjust. I have only not left a tip one time. For pizza I do 5$, and for carry out 5-6$. Same there with adjusting based on service.
