Quoting kthx.:" Whaaat?! You guys don't get to leave a few weeks before giving birth (paid)? "

nope ... unless you've got annual leave (you're entitled to 4 weeks annual leave here pro-rata) racked up. I have a weeks annual leave so mum is going to cover my mortgage for this month. Then I get paid $622 a week for 18 weeks after he's born.

Well, I guess it is a plus that you get 18 weeks of paid maternity leave. I think it's only 6 weeks here :(

I feel like if I'm ever in another English speaking country my first actions would be to suddenly freak out at local people and start yelling "Hello yes what are my rights here??"

I'm really thinking he wants inside  I stood at the door and he jumped from the screen back onto the door. And kept following my face whenever I'd move. Then he crawled over to where the door latches shut. Lol. I'd so grab him if I knew my cat wouldn't eat him.... and if there wasn't a daddy long leg and a stink bug on the door as well :x

Daddy long leg & stink bug won't hurt you. Our dog is scared of the toads outside

I have an irrational fear of bugs  I won't go onto my porch at night because of the bugs... when I come home from work and walk up to my building, I have to do a ground check to make sure I'm not walking into bug zone  It's really bad

Nah, dude, America is easy. Like, even if you break a law, all you have to do is be personally offended by it and you'll get away with it. LOL.

It depends on who you work for. Our EBA entitles me to 12 weeks full pay on top of the government leave
