No idea what to call my baby boy! Mamakye_ Due October 19; 1 child; Australia 919 posts

I seriously don't think my little man will ever have a name!! :(

His middle name has to be Leyland- it's a family tradition on dh's side- the first son of the first son, for approx 8 generations (maybe more i dont know for sure!) have this name.

I like classic, strong, masculine names- but not bully-esque. I hate hate hate preppy names (think pretty much the top ten popular names for boys)

Help!!!!

Isn't the current number 1 boys name jack? I don't think that's preppy...

So I really can't help because we obviously have differing opinions on what is preppy and what is masculine.

According to social security name site (American) 2012 most popular is

1 Jacob
2 Mason
3 Ethan
4 Noah
5 William
6 Liam
7 Jayden
8 Michael
9 Alexander
10 Aiden

William, Michael and Alexander are OK but I don't love them. The rest are just so, I dunno, preppy!

John is ok, will mention it to dh.

Hubby is Shaun so Sean is out. My brother is Shane so that's out too.
Sebastion is ok but hubby doesn't like it.
I like Elijah but I don't think it flows very well? A bit clumsy with the Leyland I feel. Eli was scrapped for this reason too.

The rest, not all hideous but I just don't like them.

Argh I am so picky. This is so hard! Why couldn't he have had a vagina, I had a girls name ready to do.

I absolutely love Alexander. It was one of the names I was going to pick for DD had she been a boy.

George is my number one. But then the darn royals called their baby George and it kinda tainted it for me? Like ppl will think we chose it because of them. It's silly but I just feel funny about the name now

Dh and I both like Jude. It is on our "list"
But have you seen movie Jude the obscure? (Or read the book)
Well in the movie the three small children of Jude commit suicide/ assist
Each other to die because they feel they are a burden to their parents.
Really powerful and distressful scene- I can't help but think of that whenever I think Of the name Jude

Booo :( Damn royals. I'm in the US so I guess I didn't think as much of that. Even though they have been on the cover of every magazine lately lol.

It kinda seems like you like the "J" sound, or a softer sound in the first name to balance out Leyland.
