My friend was induced yesterday morning at 7am. She is 39w5d today. She has been stuck at a 7 since 3 in the morning. It's 1:32pm here now... she's worried they will take her in for a c-section if she doesn't progress soon. Is that true? or is it just if baby seems to be in stress?
A lot of it depends on the doctor and hospital. I was stuck at 3 cm for 16 hours and then when they checked me again I was back down to 2 cm so I ended up with one.
It depends on whether or not she keeps progressing & if they've broken her water I think

I was in labor for 32 hours with my first and they never even mentioned a c-section, but she looked good on the monitors the entire time. She was stuck at 4 all of yesterday then was at a 7 when they checked her again and she hasn't progressed since then. The baby hasn't "dropped" at all I guess she said.
I had my section after 33hrs from start of induction. I was stalled at 5cm and 70% and baby having late decels. I was only 34wks though. Probably different for full term.
eta-she also stayed at -3 station
Quoting Just Ames:" What are their plans? Are they saying what's next? TBH, I would personally be concerned at this point."
It's been just about 11 hours since they broke it. The doctor is supposed to be in there now so I'll know more after bit. Hoping she's progressed.
Quoting Just Ames:" Ugh. I hope so too! Keep us updated."
Thanks! I will.
Quoting Kait.:" I was in labor for 32 hours with my first and they never even mentioned a c-section, but she looked ... [snip!] ... at a 7 when they checked her again and she hasn't progressed since then. The baby hasn't "dropped" at all I guess she said. "
My water had already broken I was getting so weak even if I would have dilated I doubt I could have pushed her out. Plus a big part of that was that I was regressing at that point.
She had her naturally! When the doctor was in there she was at a 9 and baby still hadn't dropped enough. An hour ago she was finally ready and had a 10 pound 8 ounce baby. 22" long.
She had feces in her water so baby is on antibiotics as a precautionary thing. They don't think she inhaled/swallowed any. But mama was running a fever as well so they want to be safe.
Quoting Just Ames:" OMFG :o I'm glad she didn't need a c section!"
Yeah, OUCH. She was swelling bad and they were comfortable inducing her because baby was measuring 11 pounds on ultrasound. Glad they did before that kid grew anymore lol
Quoting Just Ames:" Yeah they were pretty accurate with their estimate. That's crazy. Poor lady."
She is doing well! She had an epidural towards the end - thank goodness for her lol I can't even imagine. I thought my 7.7 pounder was a monster.
Just an update. Baby was transferred to a different hospital with a NICU a couple days ago. She has an infection and is having trouble breathing. As of now they think the infection is starting to disappear, but she's on oxygen. They are hoping to be out Saturday.
