If he did say no, they would be likely to kick us out. Soooooooo hmm, my choices are what exactly? I'd rather not piss off the people who put a roof over my head atm.

Why don't you sit them down, make a contract. Go over a payment plan for whatever you owe and whatever bills you pay that benefits both couples? Set the house rules, such as we can't monitor what each others do outside of the home, etc. etc. etc. sign it, get it motorized and go from there. Therefore, one can't screw the other over and if anyone does, you can sue. :D
