So since Wednesday I have had high blood pressure. It started around 140/90 at my 37 week doctors appt. It was up to 162/98 when I finally decided to ignore the nurse on the phone and go in to L&D. I was monitored for 10 hours as I also had a light headache, but my blood pressure was still very high even after napping on my left side. The on call doctor decided to send me home because I tested negative for preeclampsia, but he said I was fine to resume normal activity even with my bp so high!!
I've been home pretty much sleeping the entire time as I've been exhausted, and my headache has gotten worse. I took extra strength tylenol and it hasn't gone away. I'm going in to my OB on Monday for more monitoring and I will tell him everything. My question is, has anybody had this problem of high bp and headaches without preeclampsia? I feel like I should be induced but the on call doctor didn't seem concerned at all.
You can have high blood pressure and not have pre-e. High blood pressure alone is not a reason to be induced:?
I had gestational hypertension and started getting horrible headaches and my vision was starting to get weird. I ended up being induced at pretty much 38 weeks because of it.
I'm going thru this right now they are checking to see if I have pre-e. Mine usually ran around 130/99 or something like that and when I was in L&D on Thursday it was 150/99 they made me go home and do a urine sample for 24 hours and they also drew blood. Good Luck.
I know my post is a little old now, but I thought I would update everyone. I went back to the doctors office for a checkup and my bp was 173/98 and I was sent straight to L&D...I was sent home 2 hours later. That same night the doctor who sent me home called me and said he talked to my OB and was told to induce me right away! My BP was very very high through the whole labor and delivery even though baby was fine. There was no protein in my urine and I had no signs of pre-e. The way they described it to me was my body was starting to turn on itself to end the pregnancy (essentially my body saying ITS TIME). I delivered my baby boy on 9-10-13, my 2 year anniversary! At 37 weeks 6 days he was 7 pounds, 12 ounces and 19 and 1/2 inches long. :-)

Congrats! Glad that you and baby are doing good. Thats exactly how far along I was when I was induced for pretty much the same thing :D And thats so cool that he was born on your anniversary. Now that day is doubly as special to you :)
