For the last two weeks I've been noticing my belly getting harder at night. I usually ignore it because it doesn't last more than 20 minutes. Last night it went for a very hard, tight, painful constant 2 hours+. I did everything I could to relax it (tried drinking lots of water, using the bathroom every 5 min, tried passing gas but my muscles were so tight it hurt like hell, etc...). After it finally passed my belly felt sore like your leg does after a charlie horse. Dominic was still kicking here and there like usual so I decided not to go to the hospital. From 7 am this morning to about noon he was flailing and moving eradically when he did move.
I went to the doc about an hour ago since today was my normal appointment time. We don't think the 2 hour thing was a contraction since that's not how they work but we aren't sure what it could have been since it was my whole belly. Dominic has finally started moving like normal again, although he did manage to keep kicking the mic during his heartbeat check haha. He hates "his" belly being touched. We checked my cervix and I haven't started dilating but apparently it's getting really "soft." Early on in my pregnancy we found out I have a really small cervix as well but we decided not to do a cerclage because it didn't seem needed. He seemed pretty concerned about the size today though. He wants to start seeing me back every week now too. I didn't get put on bed rest since he knows I'm working on my house but I'm supposed to take it easy. He also wants me to start monitoring my contractions cloesly because if they get any more frequent or strong I need to go back asap apparently.
Does it sound like I'm getting worked up over nothing? Is any of this common? Any advice or thoughts? When is the cervix supposed to start softening or thinning normally?
Also he finally seems to be head down (for today at least) and his heartbeat was good. He is measuring 4 weeks big for the past 3 months.
The same thing happened to me at 29 weeks, I was contracting and didn't know it and my cervix was soft, but not dilated. I started having a few more contractions the next day and went back and they did a vag. ultrasound and found out my cervix was dilating from the inside out. I was sent to a hospital that had a NICU and was there was a week. I ended up a 3/4 cm before everything stopped and on bedrest and a terbutaline pump. I delivered at 39 weeks 5 days.
I would take it easy if I was you. You could be perfectly fine the rest of your pregnany. That's just my story.
Thank you!I was getting worried I wasn't going to make it full term. I know everyone is different but hearing someone else made it to 39 weeks make me feel so much better.
Quoting Kyrie (and 1st baby!):
Ah ok, well 35 weeks is still better than 30. I guess I can hope for the little things in case my little one decides he's ready. Hopefully being 2 weeks big will work in our favor in case he does come early.
I had the same issues and Im currently 38.5 weeks pregnant. After being checked yesterday, I am 2-3 cm dilated but no effacement yet either...only a very soft cervix.
Im hoping on my appt Wed, he lets me get induced...the tingly body, swelling, cant sleep, peeing every 5 minutes things is wearing on me....
Good luck getting induced! You're pretty far along so I can only imagine how worn down you must be if I'm so whiney at 30 weeks haha.
I had the same thing at 29 wks but my contractions were 3 min apart and they discovered I had a previa so I was on bedrest for sure. But my son didn't arrive until 39 wks and 4 days...so anything's possible. Just defenitely take it easy!
