i mean.. if you don't have to change it right away, we can just get married and i'll stall on it. he's lazy and never gets around to doing what he says he will, so.. i'll do the same.

Yeah true.Another reason why i was confused because i dont want to end up like my mother in law.She still has her husbands last name. She has been separated for 10 years.I am not saying we will divorce but you never know what can happen. He can be a dead beat scum bag ten years later.I also did not officially change my documents.I still have not went to the SS office or changed my ID.The only proof i have is my marriage license.

I took dh last name. Mostly because it was easier with him being in the army and me getting on his insurance and yadda yadda. Plus I wanted to have the same last name as my kids. My name went from something super easy to pronounce to a name that most people miss pronounce, lol.

I'm getting married on Friday, and will change my last name soon as we get back from our honey moon. It is important for me to take his last name since we have a child together and I'd like us to all have the same last name. However, I plan on changing my middle name to my maiden name when I change my last name. I have all sisters and none of my father's siblings have kids the family line is ending, and I lost my father 11 months ago I feel a need to keep part of him with me

Changed it. My maiden name is slang for dirty vagina in other countries. Plus I wanted a more "ethnic" last name and DH had it.

I hate my maiden name, mostly because it connects me to my father but also because no one pronounces it right. I love my husband's last name because it's short, and easily pronounced.
