Quoting Isabellesmommy:" You may want to consider some research in the near future, 30% women can have a period for up to 4 ... [snip!] ... there entire period. for instance my mother had one for 3 months with me. i just wanted other mommies who had ones opinion."

You may want to consider your research incorrect. You cannot shed the lining of your uterus and sustain a pregnancy.

And in case this was missed, a period is the shedding of the lining of your uterus.

No you haven't and neither did your mother. You may have had spotting or random bleeding for various reasons, but it was not a "period".

Quoting Momma R:" bleeding in pregnancy should never be as heavy as a period. If you are pregnant, and bleeding like that, it raises a huge red flag. "

However it can be possible, such as with placental tears, etc.

while having bleeding during pregnancy, most women who don't realize they are pregnant think it's a period. But like others have posted there are many causes for this. My mother had some type of bleeding she thought was here period all through her pregnancy with me. She was one of those women who didn't realize she was pregnant until she had me at home. It's something that happens a lot more than people realize. I would make sure your OB to make sure it's not something serious.

To answer your question OP (and skip the whole debate on this) you can have what seems like a period and still be pregnant. I had my "period" (period like bleeding) for two months with my oldest so I didn't know I was pregnant until 12 weeks. I found out because I was violently ill and took a pregnancy test to prove to a friend I was NOT pregnant lol. With my second I had period-like bleeding that was heavy and lasted 10 days. FYI that was not normal but the bleeding is fairly common.

Because at the time she was seeing a back woods doctor. As soon as they heard she was experiencing bleeding they told her there was no way she could be pregnant. She pushed for blood work to be done when that came back negative they labeled her as a crazy women. Honestly I'm not surprised this happened at all seeing as how we are talking about the same doctor who got my mom's file mixed up with another patients and delivered the other woman's baby a month early and me a month late because of it. When the doctors finally stopped stopping her labor with me and actually let her have me her placenta was already detaching and decaying I'm lucky to be alive from what I've been told over the years.

I didn't have a "period" per say while I was pregnant but however, I did bleed at 5 weeks which I believed was "implantation bleeding" then again at 13 weeks, and once more at 15 weeks. My first doctor always said it was going to end in a M/C so I then I decided to get a different doctor..She just told me it was my body's natural way of getting rid of "old blood". My mom had a similar experience except for she didn't know she was pregnant with my little brother and she had bleeding for the first six months until she went to renew her BC and they wouldn't give it to her because she was pregnant LOL.

Hi, I wanted to answer OP's question.
Yes I had bleeding when I was pregnant(not period bleeding) at 4, 6 and 8 weeks. I found out I was pregnant at 3 1/2 weeks. At 6 weeks is was extremely heavy, and I was passing large clots, I actually thought I had miscarried, but nope my baby was healthy.

I dont think that describes what you are describing though. Not sure about bleeding 1 1/2 weeks early is, maybe you tore something during intercourse? Anyhow best of luck, are you tracking your cycles and ovulation using any method such as basal temperature or OPKs? That might shine more light on what is going on.
