My daughter will be 3 in January. She is still taking a paci, totally not my doing but out of my control. I seriously have tried everything i can think of on my end. She can cry and whine for it all day and i wont give in at all. But now on the other hand others around her feed into it. I am at my end with it, its to the point she chews on them, pops holes and all of that. She is down to her last one and i refuse to buy anymore once she ruins this one. I dont know if its a comfort issue or what but it needs to be gone ! Its to the point she just has it in her mouth and talks with it and i cant stand that. There are times she can go with out it and then once shes upset shes asking for it. She does have a blanket since birth she is attached to and i am fine with that, but her being attached to this paci at almost 3 years old is not cutting it for me. Any advice or tips with this will be appreciated especially if your child is or was 3+ with a paci. THANKS!

kids over 3 with a paci are my pet peeve - THROW IT OUT!

Get rid of it, she'll get over it, IMO, its the only way to do it.

Throw it away and tell anyone who thinks about buying another one that you'll stab them in the face if they even think about it.

You and me both ! I have thrown it out many times only to find that she has a back up or someone fed into the tantrum and went out and got another.

I am wondering if i can speak to her, i mean she will only be 3 she cant fully comprehend but shes smart enough to know that it needs to go. I dont get how she is fully potty trained but still on this crap.

My friend cuts the nipple part off so even if they do find them there is no nipple to suck on. (she started that when her oldest dug one out of the trash)

I was.

I had mine til 5ish.

My mom made one big week talking about the dentist and teeth. Then I went to the dentist which I was soo excited for. I guess my mother told the dentist about my paci use, and he told me if I did not stop having it, my teeth were going to look like bugs bunnys. So when I got home, I threw them out.

But I would do as you and just not buy them anymore. It will be rough for a week tops, but she will forget about it. Maybe a big girl toy that you can only have if you aren't a baby, meaning no pacis?

You know what that dentist idea sounds great. she is not due for her next check up till before her birthday. I have told her many times its nasty and makes her mouth stink, not to mention going to ruin her teeth. But maybe her hearing that from another adult besides me or family will scare her away from it.

Sometimes you gotta be a major bitch to get a point across. 2 is the last cut off age for a paci.

Thanks !

Its kind of my fault, when she was around 3 months we traveled by plane and she was crying the whole flight. Sure enough i gave her the paci and just kept lightly tapping it and she took it and stopped crying. I thought it could have been for sure her ears but then again during take off i was feeding her so i am not sure. I set myself up here :?
