Progestrone questions Mylife_asAmanda Due April 21; 33 kids; Chalmette, Louisiana 439 posts

I took the progesterone supplements for 3 weeks. I am now 8.5 weeks and I stopped taking them due to the fact that I just couldn't deal with the illness anymore that it would bring me. Complete torture to myself it was. My question is... will lack of progesterone stop my baby from developing or just keep me from bleeding?

I really don't want to harm my baby, but if it's just to keep me from bleeding I think I am ok

Having enough progesterone is essential to the health of your uterine lining and keeps the placenta healthy. Did your Dr put you one it? If so I would stay on it unless you want to miscarry or have a preemie.

are suppositories an option? I took supps until the placenta took over producing progesterone. It was at 12 weeks.

Quoting Inc0gnitus:" Having enough progesterone is essential to the health of your uterine lining and keeps the placenta healthy. ... [snip!] ... keeps the placenta healthy. Did your Dr put you one it? If so I would stay on it unless you want to miscarry or have a preemie."

That was brash and rude, sorry. I understand that it may not make you feel well, but it's very important for your baby. Talk to your Dr about things that might help with the issues you're having.

You run the very high risk of miscarrying when stopping like that.
If you could stick it out until the 1st trimester is over you have better chances of holding the pregnancy as the placenta generally takes over at this time.
That is, if he just gave them to you because your levels were slightly low. Some woman have to take them their entire pregnancy. Just depends on what he prescribed them for.

he prescribed them because my progesterone dropped to 8 at 4 weeks. I have not had blood work done recently. I guess I will stick it out and start to take them again.
