Planned c-section? Chibs 2 kids; Missouri 12146 posts

Im having a scheduled csection
Dr said either December 30th or January 2nd

I have a few questions, and I do plan on asking my dr tomorrow but I thought if ask you ladies as well

What happens if I go into labor before my csection date?
If I start dilating earlier than 39 weeks,or start showing signs of going into labor will they do the csection earlier?

The hospital I'm delivering at doesn't do VBACs and from my understanding will not let you labor at all, because "they don't have the right equipment to handle emergencies"
I don't even know if they do "emergency csections"
I have since switched OBs since I've been told that, but its also at the same hospital so I guess that doesn't matter

What I don't want is to have to deliver 2-3 hours away, which is where they wanted me to go for a VBAC.

I know I have time,I'm 24 weeks and haven't had any issues. But in the past week I've had 2 friends deliver their babies at 24 weeks,so I've been thinking about my birth.

And for fun here's my belly

Sorry about the underwear pic

If you go into labor before your c-section date they will go ahead and do a c-section unless you are too early then they would try to stop your labor.

My doc told me that if you go into labor before your csection, as long as you dont already have the baby coming out, they will just do the c-section. They let me pick my date. Not trying to turn a baby into a money thing but if you have it on the 30th then you can claim it on next years taxes. Only referring to it as an it because i dont know the sex, sorry.

I know
I'm actually hoping for a December baby

My dr said he doesn't know what day it will be because he hasn't planned his holiday vacation yet

Does that not agrovate you when THEY talk about planning THERE vacation?? I mean God forbid if you have your baby while they are on VAC! UGH! That irritates me Sooo bad with doc's. I am glad my doc isn't like that. My c sec is sceduled Oct 1st, but if I go into labor before then we are going to try for VBAC delievary. Wish you had that option and hate the hospital that does that is to far away. but, yeah my doc had said if I went into labor before c sec scheduled they would just prep me for surgury and do c sec Unless I want to try for VABC, which I do. I don't think it is considered emergency c-sec unless there is harm to you or the baby, such as high blood pressure, heart rate dropping and any other issues. Hopefully it will go well. how long has it been since your first? and why did you have to have a c-sec before? mine was because I didn't dialate past 3cm. But, it wasn't considered Emergency c-sec.

You're lucky

My son is 2 1/2,will be turning 3 a few weeks after this baby is born
My water broke and I didn't go into labor,so I was given pitocin, which my body hate and I stopped dilating at 4cm. So they did a csection

Sounds like your first delivary was much like mine ended up being! but, with it only being about 3 years since your c sec, I could understand them doing another one. mine has been 5 years. The longer the better chance you have of VBAC because all the scare tissue has healed up. Goodluck to you,and hope all works out. oh, and if I was you I would plan for Jan 2, that way if you do go in labor, you may have a chance at having a new years baby even with c sec delivary... just something to think about! :)

Well my OB suggested I have a VBAC but wanted me to travel to a bigger hospital which is far away and I'd rather not be driving 3 hours while in labor lol
