Is it fair to say I pick the name? Stephloveslynden Due August 2; 2 kids; 1 angel baby; California 24403 posts

I'm not pregnant yet but according to my doctor I should be within 2-3 months so of course I'm already dreaming of baby names. I told my husband recently that I've been very stressed out with ttc because of my fertility issues etc and now I'm going through fertility treatment and I almost wanted to give up because its been tough but he begged me to continue and of course I want another baby. Sooo.... I think because I have to do all the work to even get pregnant plus I have to be pregnant and have the baby, it's only fair that I pick the name right?

I'm like 100% on my boy name and he doesn't want to go with it. He thinks that if we name our kid Andrew people will just instinctively call him Andy or Drew. Please tell me this isn't true? If we introduce our child as something people will call him what we say!

I don't think it's fair.
While mom does the majority of the work, you BOTH make the baby.

DHs name is Andrew and NO ONE calls him Andy or Drew, lol. Some ask: "so do you go by Andy or Drew or..?" and he just says "nope, just Andrew" Simple!

ETA: But I do think you should both agree on the name

It's true for the 6 Andrew's I know. lol even my BIL is Drew(Andrew). I don't think it would be fair for you to just pick the name though

Nope. Its his baby too. You can pick names all you want, but he has to agree to it too.

Not fair IMO. You both make the baby, you both should have a say....unless he's a deadbeat..which it doesn't seem to be the case.

Also, my daughter's name is Kerriellah. Everyone tried to call her Kerri. No offense to anyone with that name, but i hate it with a passion lol we would just say no, it's Kerriellah. They all got the picture. It really just depends on the kind of family you have. If they're respectful, they'll listen.

KERRA-WHHHHAT?

Are you joking about with that name? Trying to prove a point?

And OP - Its BOTH your decision, both people's child... although I think you could sway him to what you want pretty easily as long as its not something crazy like kerrabella

if its the middle name there's no concern at all for this post -

people don't shorten nicknames.... unless I totally misunderstood.

No it's not fair. We didn't chose to have only women carry the babies so that's not fair to hold against anyone, it just is how it is. You wouldn't like it if the tables were turned and you didn't get a say.

And btw, my husband is Andrew and everyone calls him Drew

Oh really? Okay - That's perfectly lovely that you think it's a proper name. I however think it's ridiculous.

After looking at mom's photos - it does make a bit more sense.

And LMAO that my appearance has ANYTHING to do with my child's name. Like wtf does that mean? lol people who look a certain way name their kids certain names...or?
