Anyone else's LO have this?

Logan is 16 months. He's half Japanese and half Puerto Rican, and was born with two of them ... a tiny one on one shoulder, and a dime-sized one on his butt. (I mention his ethnicity only because these spots are prevalent in Asian babies).

Tonight, after his bath, we were doing his usual lotion routine, and it looks like the spot on his butt has spread up his back. Wtf?

I hadn't noticed a change before tonight. But then again, I don't pore over my son's butt. So.

Anyway, I thought these things fade with age, not spread?!

Anyone have any experience with this? TIA.

Kin had/has one on her bum. The pedi said they normally fade before they start school. Hers has faded quite a bit.

My daughter is 28 months. She's half Chinese, half white and was born with quite a few Mongolian spots. She has one on her wrist that everyone always thinks is a bruise and a bunch on her back/butt. Although they're not as bluish as they were at birth, they've gotten neither larger nor smaller. I'm not sure about them growing, though.

DD had one that spread up her back but that was shortly after birth...like within two months. She's 3.5 now and it's almost invisible.

I initially freaked because I thought it was bruising

I'm thinking, did I just never notice the "rest" of it?

Hm.

Maybe it just darkened a bit? Some of my daughter's are have never been very noticeable, others really look like bruises. It got obnoxious having everyone ask where she got the bruise when she was only a couple weeks old.

Hmm, maybe. I'll bring it up to his pedi.

Mine are gone, but I have a teeny, tiny one on my forehead right under my hairline. It's usually covered by bangs, but whenever people notice it they think it's a small bruise.

Both of my kids have it and both are very large. They both have been from the bottom of their butts up to their shoulders. My son is 5, he has blue spots on one of his arms and he still has some blue tint on his butt. The rest of it is gone.

Ive never heard of it spreading long after birth.

Lol awww.

I knew what it was only because a childhood friend of mine had a really noticeable one as a kid. (I don't remember mine ... And I noticed the one on my hairline as an adult lol).

But yes. I'll call tomorrow. I'm sure she'll just laugh at me (she knows how I can be by now, heh), but it'll put my mind at ease.
