Spotting during pregnancy TheJenny 1 child; Houston, Texas 26 posts

I'm currently 5 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I have been spotting on and off for about a week. I had my first check up with a nurse who confirmed my pregnancy and said spotting can be normal especially after sex. The spotting is not from having sex because I haven't really had sex since I've spotted and I never had this problem with my first child. I'd feel so much better if I heard from other moms who have had this happen to them as well. It would be different if the doctor was the one who told me and made sure everything was okay, but I don't go back for another 2 weeks to see her. Possible miscarriage or am I just worrying over nothing?

Some women have vaginal bleeding throughout their pregnancies, and deliver healthy babies. With our first I did bleed lightly for a few days, nurses on the phone panicked me talking about preparing for the miscarriage. She is a perfectly healthy three year old now.

I had it for ten days from when my period would have started to when I got a positive. Then I had it again at 8 weeks for a week when I would have had my period. I think they call what I had breakthrough bleeding, Yours could be due to implantation. I had implantation spotting also with my first pregnancy. I wouldn't worry unless it turns red or you have bad cramps.

I had some off and on light spotting this time around due to a small SCH. Thankfully everything has been okay. I also had a larger SCH with my last pregnancy and lost that one at 6 weeks, but that bleeding was very, very heavy.

Thanks. I'll try not to worry until I see the doctor in a couple weeks. :)

Spotting is normal like the other ladies said. It could be old blood as well from implantation. However, as a precaution, ask your doctor the results for your two blood tests to make sure your progesterone levels are going up. Some doctors dont pay much mind to it and women have miscarriages because of it. Luckily for me, my doctor caught mine and my baby is now one year old. :D

Congrats and try not to stress! (easier said than done)

Update: Went to the doctor today and found out it was due to cervical ectropion which can sometimes happen during pregnancy. She said it's better to be spotting for that reason than any other reason. So all is good. :D
