Introducing solids to EBF 8 month old *frisky2times* 2 kids; Wilmington, North Carolina 666 posts21st Sep
Ok so DS is 8.5 months old and still breastfeeds pretty exclusively I started him on baby food at and 6.5 months he took to it and the last two weeks refuses to eat it. I'm not really sure what to give him I've bought him puffs but those have no nutritional value..... So pointless right? Lol so I'm at a loss here I eat oatmeal for breakfast he hates it the texture makes him gag same with fresh mashed bananas. So what do I give him? His gag reflex is really strong I've givin him small pieces of food and he will literally throw up gagging on it. He likes hashbrowns and eggs but I don't think I'm supposed to give him eggs? Am I right? He likes cheese but again he can't have that? Ahhh I guess I'm at a loss here lol please any incite????

Don't tell anybody this, but.....I gave both my kids at around 8months or so foods that they "weren't supposed to have", like some cows milk or eggs. I'm not saying you should, I'm just saying....

Eggs aren't bad to give them. Mainly the yellow is good for them but I scramble them for my 10 month old

Try cream of wheat instead of oatmeal and maybe look up baby led weaning.

The medical community can't decide what foods are safe when, ours green lighted everything (except honey) at 6 months. Just remember food before 1 is just for practice, they still get what they need from breast milk. Mine would boycott solids for weeks at a time, usually when cutting teeth or working on developmental mile stones. Keep offering, but don't stress too much. Also mine wasn't a fan of purees on a spoon, would do pouches, or just small bites of what we were having. Now she eats everything under the sun.
