when is it ok to leave your child to play by themselves? *And baby makes 4!* Due May 4; 1 child; Ohio 3772 posts3rd Oct
Say if you need to take a shower? I'm paranoid something will happen and still bring my 3 year old into the bathroom with her toys so I can shower and keep an eye on her

DD is 4 and I shower alone. I usually turn on cartoons for her and leave the door cracked so I can hear her. She is usually in the bathroom 20 times though asking what I am doing.

I leave my 2 year old alone so I can shower. Sometimes. When I do I take a fast 5 minute shower and I turn a movie on for him. If I want a longer shower I take him with me.

It might be bad but DD's been doing it since she was like, 18-20 months? We have a gate on her door though, and nothing in her room but her bed, toys, and a tv. The bathroom door is right beside hers, so if she's awake I'll leave the door open so I can hear her.

My son is turning 4 this month. Ive left him alone for a long time, but I have not taken a shower with the door closed in FOREVER lol. I was so jealous of SO the other day when I went in the bathroom while he was in the shower and it was all hot and steamy lol.

DD showered with me until about 4, than i would let her do hercown thing. But she is pretty well-behaved and she doesn't get into things she knows not to. If i didn't think she could behave for the 10-15 mins it took me to shower i wouldn't of left her alone at all.

I completely trust my 3 year old to play alone while I shower. In his whole life he's never been the type to get into stuff or wander. He usually plays in his room and once in awhile I'll yell his name and he'll yell back "Yeah Mom I'm playing"

She used to be gated into the living room while I showered from the time she was like 2 on. After we moved I just make sure she has anything she needs and I go shower, but I always leave the door open. I always take 5-10 minute showers anyway though.

Just leave the bathroom door open. My kids are 5,3 and 1 1/2 and don't come in the bathroom with me. My showers are always under 10 minutes and my kids are fine.

I have done it at 2 but only if I need a shower really bad. I lock my bedroom door and make him play with his cars on my bed while I shower quickly. I leave the door open and I can see him at all times.

My boys are 5 and 3. I've been leaving them "alone" since they were 2 and 4. I usually turn on a TV show that will run for 30 minutes and leave their door and the door to the bathroom cracked. If it's too quiet (or loud depending on the minute lol) all I do is holler "what's going on out there"

I probably did before he was 18 months. I would put him in my room while I showered. For at least a year I've let him be in the living room watching a show or playing while I showered and he turns 4 this month. He doesn't EVER get in to things though, I know other kids are different.
