AF is 2 days late S ♥ J ♥ L 1 child; 3 angel babies; Philadelphia, PA, United States 3820 posts

I posted last night about this, but got no replies. I'm really, really looking for any mama's who've been through this for some advice! This is my post from last night instead of writing something new:

"I had my mirena removed August 20th and got my first heavy bleed the 22nd to the 24th of the same month. I got another period September 14th to the 16th.

Today's been a month since my lmp and no sign of AF. Should I be concerned and test? My GYN said my periods may take up to a year to become regular. I'm just super paranoid. I would have no idea when I would have ovulated, even though I was keeping my eye out for signs/symptoms, and we've barely had sex since I've gotten it out."

Any advice on whoever has had the mirena removed and having an irregular period? Experiences?

EDIT: It is now 2 days that AF is late. And I'm freaking out!!!

No. If your GYN said to not expect normal periods, than don't expect normal periods.

Still has me paranoid. He said I may or may not have normal periods. I guess the thought is just in the back of my mind.

I just want to know when my period will finally go back to normal! The last thing I need is to think I'm pregnant every month because of an irregular period. And it makes it worse because I don't know when I'm ovulating.

Well I'm a POAS addict, so I'd test just incase. It will probably be negative, but who knows. Then if it is test again in a week if you haven't gotten it. BUT when I had my mirena out I bled for about 2 weeks straight so I'm no help there.

Yikes. Everyone has such a different experience with the removal of it. I just wanted some feed back.

A friend of mine had hers removed and got pregnant the NEXT month. So that is what I'm fearing. I'm going to go buy a dollar store test just to ease my mind.

Practice safe sex until than if you are trying to avoid pregnancy.

We barely have sex to begin with, and we do use condoms. But nothing is ever certain.

I wouldn't say a 2 day period is normal. More like breakthrough bleeding. It is frustrating TTC with an irregular period (I have 50-60 day cycles... can you imagine how annoying that is with testing lol). But I'd wait out a little bit and see if you get a day or two more of a period.. and then start using OPK's to pinpoint ovulation.

I have absolutely no cramps or symptoms of an oncoming period like I always do. But I'll give it a few more days until I really freak. I think I'll just get a dollar store test just to ease my mind for the rest of the week.

We're not TTC, but I hope when the times comes in another year to do so my period will be more regular! I've always been regular, and always had a short period of 3 or so days.

I have never had the mirena, but had a few people on here and IRL tell me that they got pregnant the next month from just one accident. I'm a POAS addict, being pregnant and all I still get the urge to POAS. Grab a dollar store to ease your mind. :) good luck mama!

Condoms are now classified as 99.99% effective, combined with your lack of sex I'd say you're pretty safe. Just curious, but why get your birth control taken out if you are not trying to get pregnant?

I had such SEVERE complications because of it. I had such horrible fatigue, chronic migraines that lasted 4-5 days and landed me in the hospital, mood swings, depression, hair loss.

Days after I go it out, I was normal again. I have to stay BC free for 4 months for my GYN can be sure that the mirena was the cause of my complications. Then I can choose another form of BC. So until then, I am walking on eggshells.

I HATE having it out. I loved knowing how effective the mirena was and I'm sad I can't have it because of what it did to me.

I would test even though it'll probably be negative. I just went through that, I was freaking out because my
period was 2 days late when normally it's on time.. AF ended up showing
up though. good luck!!

I'd do the same--- $1 test would save my sanity LOL

Hope you find a better birth control.
Mirena's website has it marked 99.99% effective- same as condoms.
