Completely anonymous, you don't have to reply if you don't want to.

Currently, how much money do you have either in CASH or in your PRIMARY CHECKING ACCOUNT available for withdrawal? Do NOT include savings.

We always try to keep around $3000 in our checkings. We have two savings account, one we don't touch, and one that we use in correlation with our checkings.

I would just include that in $800-1000 personally.

We had a really good chunk, but we bought a house a year ago so we paid a hefty sum for the down payment.

People have money in their checking accounts?

On a serious note I keep very little in mine(by choice) and I don't walk with cash. Anyone tries to rob me they would just be practicing.

Yes. It's sad how few people don't even have an emergency fund of $1000.

You should never keep that much in your checking unless you're going to purchase something big. Even then, I like to get a cashier's check done for that purchase.
Thieves will clean you out in a heartbeat. (they've made a duplicate of my debit card before, but didn't get very far) So, hopefully you're using that $$ for a down payment on a house. Super Happy

OP, I keep anywhere btw $5k-10k depending after I pay bills. I try to stay in the 5k mark, though. We pay ourselves first (20% of our income goes to multiple savings accounts NOT associated with our checking account.) Then we pay all of our bills and the rest is gravy.
