Scared Of SIDS Mommy-of-3-awesome-kids 3 kids; Go Hawks, IA, United States 2570 posts

I am scared of SIDS happening to my baby. He was born on October 6. My husband thinks I am being paranoid since it never happened to our other 2 kids. I make sure I swaddle him every night, burp him, make sure he isn't dressed to warm, lay him on his back to sleep. What else can I do to prevent it?

Make sure there's a fan on in the room.

How does the fan thing work? Is it just constant airflow that's good?

I understand mama. I worried about it too. It sounds like you are doing all the right things though . I assume you make sure there isn't anything soft in there w/ him like teddy bears, loose blankets, bumpers, etc.

Being in a smoke free zone can help, too.

It seems like your doing everything you can on your part. That's really all you can do. I felt the same way when my daughter was young, Its normal to feel that way & as long as your doing everything you can, try to relax and enjoy your little one. As you know, they grow to fast.

That's so normal. I was like that with Dd and just stopped being so worried all the time and she's 8 months old.

Get an Anglecare monitor. That's what we have. It alerts you if the child stops breathing.

Thank you and yes he doesn't have any teddy bears or loose blankets in the crib with him. All that is in his crib is the mattress, crib shit and then his swaddle blanket I use.

I check on Blake about 5-6 times a night to make sure he is still breathing. Whenever I get up to go the bathroom I check on him.
