DD is a week old today and I think her umbilical stump got stuck to my shirt while breast feeding her and it came off! It's barely bleeding and she's not fussing at all, I just feel horrible! Is there anything I need to do for it or can I just leave it be?b49e54e9bf7915b49a945813fbbf8017.jpg61a9cd9b864935d7f75a25f0a641972c.jpg

Just keep it clean and dry. Make sure there's no odor coming from it. It should be fine. What a big day. One week old and she got her bellybutton! yay!

If u think it looks like a problem call the pediatrician. If not don't worry.

the nurse in the nursery at the hospital knocked my daughters off at 3 days old but she was too much of a wuss to say anything to me, the babys mom!! I overheard her say to the other nurse shud I tell her? And she answered no. I guess they were scared may have hurt the baby. Thinking back I wish I wud have said something like sorry but u can't hide...

Same thing happened to DS around that age. As long as it's clean and doesn't smell or look infected, it should dry up and heal just fine.
If you're worried, just give your pedi a call- they'll put a little silver nitrate on it and that's it :)

It looks to be fine...just keep it clean and make sure there isnt a funky smell coming from it. This is about the same time my 2nds cord fell off.

Just leave it be, and keep it dry. If it begins to look like this, then take your baby in to be seen right away. 93575f9c.jpg

You're fine :) It might even look a little 'open' but thats ok too, as long as no signs of infection.
