My sister is in a long lasting relationship, and they are wanting to conceive or adopt a baby. Hands down they would make great Mamas! They are not entirely sure what all the legal ramifications are, or how to really go about doing so. Does anyone here have any experiences on the subject or an idea for resources? We are in a state that looks down on same sex relationships and it makes it very difficult.

The chances of it happening in AZ is slim to none as state law states that priority is given to married couples (defined as a man married to a woman).

I don't know how to help, I just wanted to show support and hope they figure it out!

Thank you for your support. It is greatly appreciated! Specially since most people out here talk down about it.
That is the problem they are coming across is the priority law. They were thinking of just getting pregnant by a sperm donor, but still don't know how to work out the emergency rights.

Look into guardianship for the person who is not the biological mother.

Sorry, I was typing with one hand before lol.

With legal guardianship, the non-biological parent can essentially have all the same rights as the biological parent. It's not perfect, but it could work.
