Having a baby during the summer? Vanessa's Mommy. 1 child; W., IN, United States 985 posts

I'm having my daughter this coming June. It's my first child and I have no clue what I can or cannot do. I live in the midwest, so it's 85+ degrees ALL THE TIME. Please give me any advice you can! I go camping at a private campground a lot, we have a camper with A/C, can I take her out there? Can I go swimming in a pool? Can we go to waterparks when shes a couple months old? What can I do!? I'm entering the panic part of my pregnancy. (If you can't tell)

The camper would be fine if you have the space and energy to take everything she would need. I wouldn't recommend the water park or pool or anything outside. Some outside time is fine, but they can't relate their own body temperature at that age so of it's hot they don't need to be outside long. Definitely not in a public pool with all the germs, and really because of the temp I wouldn't think a private pool would be good either. This is all just me though. My son was born in July and its 100+ here during July and August most days, so we pretty much never spent time outside.

All of this. DS was born in July and just rarely took him out on hot days. They can get too hot fairly quickly. And you're risking sunburn on the sensitive skin. Gems and bacteria in pools and lakes and stuff like that is a definite no in my book. Not with a newborn. You're talking about a newborn less than 2 months old. No way.

Thank you guys a lot! In June, it's still somewhat fair but, by the time we get into July the humidity is too crazy. We don't heat the upstairs of our house either except for A/C in the bedrooms, so we're going to have to load up.
