Help me, I'm flying. Ellie Goulding 1 child; London, --, United Kingdom 4742 posts

In 11 days, we're flying to New Hampshire so DHs family can see DS. I am so not excited, lol. But I've never flown in my life (except on a 4-seater) and I'm really nervous about our luggage. What should I pack, besides clothes and toiletries? Am I allowed to bring a 1/2 gallon of almond milk in my checked luggage? How do you even check luggage and what are the odds our stuff will get lost? Can I bring a bottle and/or snacks in our carry-on?
So many n00b questions, but like I said I've never flown commercially.
Any tips on keeping DS calm and entertained during our 2 hour flight?
ETA: Oh and the car seat! DS will not be getting his own seat so we can't bring it on the plane. What should I do with it? How should I pack it?

Why do u want to bring milk? Idk if you can or not but I think it would be a bad idea. The bags get thrown around a lot, imagine if the milk spilled all over your bag!

IDK, I guess I'm just afraid we won't be able to get more right away. But you're right, that's a stupid idea. TongueLOL. Can I bring a couple of bottles full of milk instead?

Liquids over 100ml, as far as I am aware, have to be packed in your suitcase or whatever baggage is going in the hold of the plane. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy milk when you land though!!
And you can usually check car seats and pushchairs in separately for no extra charge. I'd phone and make sure on that first though.

I would look on the tsa.blog page for most those questions.

for LOs car seat, you can either bring it on the plane if it's approved for flying, or you can check it to go under the plane for free.

My kindle kept LO busy the whole ride. I bought kid headphones for him and he spent it watching Mickey and playing games.

get to the airport a couple hours early.

also, if it were me, I would not carry and liquids in your carry on to make going through tsa easier. Wear slip on shoes and dress in layers.

Also, you can bring bottles through, however they may test it so have it handy to hand over. Snacks should be good if they are solid and in the wrappers. They make an exception for baby needs.

tsa also has a hotline with any other questions you may have.

)an just buy the almond milk when you get there!)

checked luggage age does not get lost often. Just make sure you label your bag with your name addy an number

Its not stupid at all! I understand wanting to have the comforts of home. Another issue with the milk is is being unrefrigerated too long.

You can't take food or drink on the plane you didn't purchase after security... But you will need gum or gummie bears for LO. Their ears popping can be painful and the gum or gummie bears helps that. You don't want a screaming child for take off and landing. Also, if there are open seats, often times they will allow LO to sit next to you if possible even though they don't have a "seat"

Yes you can...
If the food is solid (goldfish, crackers, m&ms, gronola bar) you can bring it with you. Things like pudding/yogurt you can not)

Medically Necessary Liquids are allowed in larger quantities than 3.4 fl oz. (Milk, Diaper Rash Cream)

Lollipops and pacis also help with ear popping.

Children over 2 need their own seat bought, too.
