Pain from catheter? TarHeel83 Due March 13; 1 angel baby; Raleigh, NC, United States 28 posts

I've had to have a catheter put in 2 different times before when I was in the hospital (not for labor), and both times I experienced excruciating pain for several days after they took it out, every time I peed. And I do mean excruciating. Is this normal? Could they possibly have put the catheter in wrong? Now I'm worried about what will happen if I have to have a catheter put in sometime during labor (I am 35 weeks along now).

Ugh, unfortunately it's normal. I was cath'd twice before my c-section, & peeing was not fun for quite a while. The tube is definitely larger than your urethra. Hoping for your sake you don't have to experience it again... !

Ugh... That reminds me when I had my first. With her I had a epi. They cathed me 2 times during labor. Then after labor I was SO swollen that I couldn't pee. Doctor told me he was going to cath me for 24 hours until my swelling went down.
talk about bad. I just pushed a baby out and they bring in a student to do my cath! She missed 4 times. I was in so much pain that they shot me with stadol! Then I demanded someone else do it. First try someone else got it in. I hated it. It was also very uncomfortable for like a week afterwards to pee.
