When did you go on yours?

I work in a daycare - so it's relatively physical. I'll be 36 weeks this week and I am thinking of going on my maternity leave now so i can spend some time with my two kids before i have 3!
I can take off more then the normal "6 weeks" so it isn't like i'll be sacrificing time with my baby; + we're getting our tax return this week so we can more than afford to go down to one income.

I worked as an aide in a nursing home so it was a lot of lifting and walking around when I was pregnant. I stopped working when I was about 35 weeks pregnant I think. It was just becoming really hard on me physically plus I worked 12 hour night shifts. I took off over 12 weeks before I went back but then I ended up quitting because I wanted to stay home :D Good luck I don't think it is too soon for you.

i think it just depends on the person, the job, financial ability, and flexibility at the job. for me I worked until I delivered and plan to this time, but I also dont have a physical job and my work sucks with flexibility.
I would say if your job allows it and you can finacially take the time then go for it.

This has been my toughest pregnancy by far - physically.
Everyone around me thinks it's time i take my maternity leave, even my doctor is pushing for it.

Then maybe it is time. Personally I loved taking a few weeks off before hand. I was able to get things more situated and just relax with my other 2 kids.

With DD1 - I worked until the day I was induced (42 weeks, 6 days)

With DD2 - I made more money on Mat Leave then going to part time hours at my job, so I went 4 weeks prior to the day I delivered, it was supposed to be 7 weeks though...I went into labour early.

I am only taking 6 months maternity leave, my husband is taking the other 6 months.

DD#1 onwentbat 37w  (I work for the school and that was when winter break started, had her during break at 38w woops!)
my dr will put you on disability 4w before your EDD and I actually made more on disability than working. Planning on 36 weeks so I'll have a little time before #2 is born
