Is this name bad? Doodles mommy Due July 31; 2 kids; Starke, Florida 1652 posts

We recently found out that we're expecting a little girl and couldn't be more excited. We have chosen the name Maggie Mechelle.  I know the spelling of Mechelle is a bit different but it's Dh's moms middle name andMaggie is after my mom (Margaret) a lot of people have told me that the name Maggie is ugly.  So opinions?  Is Maggie an ugly name?  Dh and I love it either way so it ready doesn't matter but just curious. Tia.

I don't dislike it but I prefer Maggie as a nickname.
It's not ugly. And Maggies are great people, in my experience, lol. Never met a mean one.

Maggie isn't a name, it's a nickname. Pick a real name and use that as a nn.

now mechelle. That's ugly

It's not ugly, but to me it isn't a name.  It's a nickname.

What about Megan? It's the Welsh version of Margaret.
Or if you really like Maggie, what about something like Magnolia?

I dislike it a lot. Maggie is a nickname not a real name. My thing is, can you picture your daughter in some professional career being called Maggie? Its cute when they are little but when shes an adult not so much. The middle name I get you're doing it for DHs mom, but you can still honor her and spell it the right way.

Didn't even think of that, but I love it.

Yeah I'm definitely considering changing the spelling to Michelle.  I had considered using Margaret and calling her Maggie but my mom is begging more not to because she's always hated her name. Idk, I'm only 18 weeks so I may still change my mind. I love the name Olivia Jade but DH can't stand it.

I guess I hadn't really thought of it as a "child" name.

I don't mind Maggie.

A great actress is named Maggie, so you can be successful and taken seriously with that name.

now the middle name needs to be respelled. I see it and I think "met chul."

Yeah I kind of hate the spelling too but DH said its important to him.  I think he's just going to have to get over that.  I mean the middle name is pronounced the same either way...

I LOVE Magnolia! if DH ever agreed on it we'd call her maggie for short.

If you are talking about Maggie Gyllenhal or Maggie Smith, they are both Margaret with Maggie as a nickname.
