Clean or rest? BRowell 3 kids; 2 angel babies; Bristol, TN, United States 3726 posts

I'm having contractions about every 16-18 minutes or so. I'm suppose to go in when they are 10 minutes apart so right now I'm just waiting to see if this will turn into the real thing or not. I'm pretty tired because I didn't sleep well last night so I'm thinking I should probably rest while I can but I really really want to clean the house. What did you do when you were in early labor?

Do you want to go without meds? If so, rest!

If you are getting an epi, clean now cause you can rest when you are hooked up lol

No meds. This will be the first time I've ever done it too. I had to be induced with my other too and got the epi so you are probably right. My house isn't even dirty. It's mostly just toys and there are a few dishes but it's driving me crazy and I know I won't just clean those things, I'll find something to scrub and completly wear myself out. Lol

What did I do? With my first, I rested. With my second, I chased around my first & cooked lunch...prepped dinner...etc. I'll try to stay active with my third too, if it ever happens. It was better for me that way.

You may need the rest though. Do what you think is right.

Yeah go rest girl!
I went to 9cm on accident, without meds lol

it was hard pushing after laboringg and working all day (with an epi) so I can't imagine cleanin on top of that

I would rest if your not getting an epi. With my second my epi didn't work and all the contractions and everything wear you out. That way you won't be tired when your baby is here! You'll be ready to go!!

Thanks ladies. I am going to "rest." I put that in quotations because I have a toddler and well, there's only so much resting I can do. Haha the contractions have actually seemed to go away so maybe this isn't it anyway. We will see. Thanks for the responses!

I was having contractions like that yesterday and needed to finish cleaning my kitchen. My contractions where so painful I had to stop a couple of times. When I finally finished and went took a shower and rested they stopped.

Yeah, mine have completely stopped now. I am glad I rested though. DS and I took a nice nap and when DH gets home we will probably go grocery shopping and then I'll clean up. Maybe they will start back up, who knows! Lol

Maybe so. I went to the dr today and they told me I had dilated to a 4 and she didn't see me lasting much longer she could feel his head.Last week I wasn't dilated to nothing.

Oh yeah, a 4 is good. I'm at a 1 1/2 only but my baby's head is low too. I'm only 37 weeks though so it's not a big deal. I don't mind waiting a couple more weeks. My first was born at 37+3 and she did have a couple issues. I haven't had anymore at all now. Good luck to you!
