Clomid question for a friend Abii&Boo[+2]♥ 2 kids; 2 angel babies; Neverr, CA, United States 3001 posts

My friend started her first round of clomid 50mg. Her doctor told her to take it from cd2-7, but he didn't monitor her, he just told her to go back in 3 cycles if it doesn't work. She started having off n on cramping around the 3rd day of taking her clomid, now she is on cd9 and is saying that sometimes the cramps are painful but they aren't unbearable. She wants to know if its normal to have painful cramps on clomid before ovulation. She is freaking out and thinks its "hyper stimulation of ovaries" I have no experience with it so any advise is welcome.

Yes, it is normal. It's also a possibility that it doesn't work either. She doesn't need to be monitored, quite yet.

From what I remember it's normal and I've had to use clomid always to get pregnant. Days 5-9 with my daughter 3-7 with my twins and 2-6 that I miscarried with a singleton.

Okay thanks for your replies ladies.
She wants to add that she does ovulate on her own, she just ovulates late in her cycle so her doctor prescribed it to give her a "boost" thats why she is nervous.
I have no experience with clomid but I would think that since its an ovulation inducing medicine that the cramps are a good sign its working for her?
MamaBee, she wants to know if you had cramping on the cycle with your twins?

I did but I also don't ovulate without the clomid. I think cramping is a good sign though :) sadly my cramps were horrible during ovulation week with the singleton that got miscarried. It was to the point where it hurt to laugh while laying on the couch

She said she was really scared to take it too because since she already ovulated on her own she thought it would hyper stimulate her ovaries. Thanks for your reply
