Severe morning sickness :( Elisahbeth Due December 6; 1 child; 1 angel baby; United States 8 posts

I am 7 weeks pregnant. 2 days ago i made a trip to the ER & i was told that i was severely dehydrated & had to have 2 bags of fluids, a bag of potassium & antibiotics. I was also prescribed Zofran for the nausea. As soon as i left i started throwing up blood and have been since i left...not an extreme amount but my throat is burning like never before, i cant eat, i can only drink small amounts of water or ill throw it up. I feel like death. I havent gotten out of bed in weeks, my hubby has had to stop working to watch our 3 year old because it is so bad. I had this experience with my son & with a miscarriage last October but never this bad, never thrown up blood or felt this horrible. I just dont know what to do. Any advice please?? Anyone going through this??

I'm not going through it but maybe you need to go back and see them. You could've had a reaction to something or dehydrated again. It could be anything, but the best thing to do is try not to stress about it too much, otherwise you'll probably feel worse. Or you could call the hospital and get dome advice. Hope you feel better soon x

You need to call your doctor back and let them know zofran is not working for you. There are other drugs you can try. Have you kept any water down at all today? The bleeding needs to addressed as soon as possible. Is it dark or bright red? I know that the bright red I had was from irritation to my throat. But it was a tiny tiny amount. Have you seen bile? Mine was like shamrock green and that is a sign you need to go back right now! They originally tried to up my zofran dose. And had me drink a teaspoon amount of liquid every half hour to see if my body would keep it down. It did not work for me. I ended up switching to phenergan which does work for me most days. At this point if you haven't had water stay down and you're throwing up blood you need to go back to the hospital. You should call your doctor right now and inform them that you are going so they know. I'm so sorry! I have been there. There are other things they can try. Zofran is obviously not working for you.

They weren't supposed to release you until you could hold food down again. If I were you, I'd go back in for another iv with meds.

Keep your diet bland. Keep sipping water. The more dehydrated you are, the worse it's going to be.

I had had it all throughout, but I couldn't imagine doing it again and watching my toddler! Is is possible to hire at least a part time nanny who does light housework? That way it will lighten the load some on so. My so had to work hard from me throwing up 24/7 til my 25 weeks of bed rest. He was exhausted and I wished I would have had someone to clean a bit at least once a week. :(

i would personally either go back or wait til morning to call your ob back. If you can't keep down the water, go in right away! The blood is most likely from your throat being so raw. :( hope you find relief soon!

They like to try zofran first because it's category B and I believe phenergan is a category C drug. I personally hated the zofran side effects and it didn't work. I hope you start feeling better.

I had the same problem... I lost over 35lbs in a month period and haven't beens able to gain anything back... zofran helped a little bit but nothing seemed to stay down. You just have to find that one thing that stays down. Mine was eating apples.  Im 25 weeks now and I still have puking spells.. it gets a better... good luck!

i had horrible morning/afternoon/evening sickness. the drs gave me 3 different types of medication and none worked. im 21 weeks now and i am still getting sick. but in the beginning i ate pretzels and drank bottled water. not tap. and sprite. i ate pretzels for weeks. i bought the soft pretzels and hard pretzels and i think the salt calmed my stomach down. and made me thirsty. but if your dehydration is super bad i dont think i would be eating much salt fore that could just make dehydration worse. best thing to do is talk to your doctor though. and if you are taking your prenatal vitamins may switch the brand you are taking. they could be making you sick as well
