Bleeding at 6 weeks SmithMomma7 Due January 30 (boy); 1 child; United States 12 posts

Hi Everyone,

I'm pregnant for the first time at 35 and everything has been going great, in fact I don't even have any morning sickness at all.  But, this morning I had some very light brown discharge when I woke up...I just happened to have a prenatal visit scheduled this morning and everything looked fine.  When I got home, I started bleeding - not heavily, but red blood.  The doctor told me to come right back in.

She said the baby is still there, and everything looks fine, but she called it a "threat of miscarriage".  I spent most of the day crying and worried.  Has this happened to anyone else who carried to term?  I need some reassurance.  Luckily the bleeding has stopped altogether now but I'm still pretty freaked out.

The doctor told me the same thing but she also said as long as I wasn't cramping and I wasn't bleeding heavily, I should be fine. I worried like hell but now my daughter is 4 :)

if it started as brown blood then turned to red, and baby is fine, its likely either a subchorionic hematoma or decidual bleeding. both are not a threat to you or baby. they labeled it a threatened mc bc they dont why the bleeding is happening.

I bled with this pregnancy and with my daughter. I think they worry more if its bright red or you have any clots , still always get checked though. Im presuming subchronic hematoma is the fancy words for a clot by the baby from implantation. They can be a problem for baby more depending where it is. If its behind baby and u have a big bleed it could cause baby to be pushed out, but they usually get re-absorbed by your body

I was at the hospital yesterday with brown blood. I got told not to stress unless I get painful cramping and blood gushing.
Completely normal to get a small amount.

Omg I am going  threw the same thing you are and I am freaking  out.   I went the ER and they said that it could be "threat of a miscarriage:  they  also told me my hormone count was low.  Did they tell u the same thing. Me and my husband are devastated and hopping by the time I go back to see Dr my hormone level has gone up. Ill pray that everything turn out good for you.

Hi Brenda,  well I hope it makes you feel better to know that I never had another bleeding issue, it totally stopped the next day!  They didn't say anything about my hormone counts, but told me no exercise and no sex for a week.  I will be praying for you too - it sounds like from what people are saying on this thread, as long as you don't bleed heavily you're probably OK.  I go back for my next check up in a week and I'll feel a lot better if everything still looks completely normal.
