I don't know how to express to my family to stop buying for this baby lol. I appreciate some help but they are also kind of taking the fun away from me. My grandma is the worst. I have even told her to stop buying clothes because I will be having a shower and I know I will get a lot. I mean she seriously has garbage bags filled with clothes. I have nicely asked her to calm down but she keeps buying. I just feel like it will be a waste and I will end up giving some away.
also I know this is gonna sound horrible of me BUT this baby is very important to me because me and DH didn't think we would be able to have one. I do not want used things. Please don't hate. I want my baby to have the best and I'm not usually like this. I will shop at goodwill for myself I have no problem and I love resale shops. But I want what I want for my baby. What really concerns me is that my MIL and grandma bought car seats at garage sales and I don't feel like its safe. I mean, I don't get why they wouldn't just use the one I have and maybe just get an extra base. I'm sorry if I sound like a horrible person its just how I feel. Not trying to be bratty.

My mom and MIL were the same way. Don't bother asking them to stop, because buying for the baby is fun and exciting for them just like it is for you. My MIL also purchased another infant carseat that never got used. I didn't understand that, but whatever. Also, there's absolutely nothing wrong with used items. You don't have to spend a fortune to give your baby the 'best'. Kids are expensive. You'll learn that in due time.

The car seats I understand because that isn't safe. If they weren't buying new ones for their cars, I would offer to buy them. If they refused they wouldn't transport my child.

I do say cut them slack, they are trying to be helpful.  I'm sure they are excited too.

As far as buying clothes...a lot of people just can't help themselves...my mom is the same way buying clothes for my daughter and now for my son...but with the carseat and those types ...i would never buy any of that used, for safety reasons. We are using my DDs carseat for ds, but that is because it is still within warranty, and is two years old, still have all paperwork and has never been in an accident.

There is no way I would ever use a used car seat unless I knew the previous owner VERY well, it wasn't expired, it was never in an accident and it was a temporary situation like when I visited DH's family

Doesn't sound bad at all that's the way I feel about my baby.

Buying a car seat used from a garage sell would bother me more I'd rather buy it new. We got sad lucky on the car seat we bought it was brand new from someone but she miscarried :( so I felt bad for her

I bought a used carseat for my first baby. I don't see why people think it's such a big issue, as long as you know where it came from and know it's not expired.

I know. I've never had a problem with used things before but I've just been so wrapped up in this that I just want new things. Idk. Its probably just a new baby phase I'm going through. I'm sure I will settle down once he's here lol

I wouldn't allow them to use the carseats but as far as the other stuff if you've already asked them to stop I guess there's not much else you can do. I received a lot of used stuff when LO was younger from people that didn't ask if we needed them and I just said thanks and kept one or two things for playing and donated the rest. At least you know they're excited lol.

Yeah, when he's outgrowing his clothes every 2-3 months, it gets pricey to buy everything brand new.

And yes everyone is excited! Lol. This is the first grandchild and great grandchild. In me and dh's family. Should have mentioned that. I guess I've just been overexcited/overwhelmed lately and everything is getting on my nerves. Lol. At one point I wanted to help with every single detail to my shower but now I don't want anything to do with it. I have just been pretty up and down about stuff.

Its a safety device. I'd want to know that its never been damaged, been in a car accident or left in bad conditions that could effect the durability of it. Like i said, if I really trusted the source, like my SIL then I would use it but only temporarily. I prefer brand new for safety devices.

Well, duh, it's a safety device. But like you said, as long as you KNOW it hasn't been in an accident, it shouldn't be a big deal.

I understand lol. I haven't bought anything second hand for my baby girl. I have been offered things from friends and stuff too like car seats, but I politely declined and bought a new one. Obviously I feel like there is nothing wrong with someone doing second hand if that is what they want and need to do, but I am in the same boat as you and have been buying everything new instead.

I feel the same way!!! I'm not due until December but I'm so afraid  that's what's going to happen. Like you this baby was such a blessing after trying for 2 yrs it finally happened and we are so freaking excited and I too want all new for my baby! We both have big families on both sides that are so super excited and I see the problem being more my MIL then my mom cuz she already has 10 granbabies all under the age of 8 with three of them being born late last fall and one in feb!  Altho she is super excited for me and has already gotten me just a couple lil things but I ready told my MIL I'm getting all new so she knows, this is our first and we can afford it right now.   I'm not a picky person either and I love yard sales and love a good used bargain but just for this first experience I want all new like you!  I know how you feel to some extent but I don't think it will be quite as bad as you're going thru but only time will tell! Lol
