Re-using names Born To Be Worn Due February 4; 4 kids; 2 angel babies; Norfolk, Virginia 5520 posts

Say you had a girls name picked out for DS1 if they were a girl and another for DS2 if they were a girl and you're pregnant a 3rd time and it ends up being a girl, would you look at the names you would have named your older children if they were girls, or would you continue looking for another name?

I'm torn about it. Idk how I would feel if DS2 would ever ask, what would be my name if I was a girl? oh you're sister's name. Or am I just being silly?

I don't see many children asking what their name would have been as the opposite sex lol. If you like the old names you had picked out, then use them! :p

I'm the oldest of 2 girls. So I never had that growing up. My parents tell me my boy name would have been King Arthur (my grandfather's middle name, his mother's maiden name, and my father's middle name) pretty sure they were banking on me being a girl since I was named after 2 grandmothers and a great grandmother. hahaha.

My son would have been Rosalie, my daughter got it even though we did look at other names :)

I guess I was an odd child haha. I saw the spot in my baby book for the list of boy names and girl names, and only my name was listed under girl names and nothing under boy names. I was curious haha

Ok so I just asked my mom what my name would have been and it would have been Skyler. Skyler is my youngest brother's name, so there ya go, my mom decided to re use hers!

I always ask that stuff too. If I were a boy I would have been Robert James, and my husband is Robert James... weirddd .

Zeke would've been Lilly..but 3 years is a long time and when we found out Aurora was a girl we decided against Lilly....you never know, if you find out this little one is a girl you might opt out of using the name you were gonna name your first two..

I had a girl name picked out for whenever I had a girl. Either of my boys would have gotten if they were girls.

I'd look for another name, kids deserve their own names.

How would it not be their own name? lol

If I ever get pregnant again I will have some new possible names but yes, I still have original names I'd revisit. I dont think its bad to revisit names and use them, especially if they mean something and/or are something you really love!

Our DD's possible boy middle name ended up being our second DS's first name. It didn't seem to suit our first DS, but it was perfect for our youngest. So far our unused girl names have gotten scrapped once they were boys, because we ended up not liking them after all.

OP - I think the argument is a bit ridiculous. I don't think it makes a name any less significant or usable just because you wanted to use it with another child.
