Bottle sterilizer Stan Smith Due August 26 (girl); 1 child; Bergen, Norway 3364 posts

To sterilize bottles with my son, I used the top rack of the dishwasher and ran it with nothing but the bottles and pieces. This time around, we live in a different house with no dishwasher. I thought about investing in a bottle sterilizer, because I'm all about convenience and would rather not boil them if I don't have to BUT, the only ones I see look like they're specifically made for certain brands of bottles, like Dr. Browns or whatever, but I don't have those brands, and the brand I do have doesn't look like it makes a bottle sterilizer. So my question is, can you use any sterilizer for any bottle? Or are they specifically tailor made for the same brand? Am I even making sense?

TIA.

i just bought a generic one from target, but i only used it until she was maybe 2 months and then i just hand washed them and occasionally boiled them, probably once every week or 2

I bought a bottle steriliser with DD1, I don't think it was any certain brand. It has inserts for much thinner bottles than the Avent ones we had. I still put them on the bottle rack thing in it, and it worked fine lol.

Lol... with being onto my second child now I think exactly the same thing. I was SO adamant about sterilising with DD1, but I only sterilise if I HAVE to now haha.

I never sterilized.  I just rinsed them out before I used them for the first time.

Once or twice a day i use these steamer bags  by medela called quick clean. You just pop it in the microwave for a minute. they're cheap. Like a dollar a piece & you can use them almost 30 times a piece.

I do, I'm kind of a phobe, lol. I think I stopped around 6 or 7 months with my son.

Is just soap and hot water good enough? Because that would save serious money and time, I'm just kind of paranoid hahaha.

I would assume so.  That's all you use to clean what you eat off of so...?

I never had a problem with my kids getting sick or anything else because I didn't sterilize.

Well damn. I feel like I should've known this D: If I can just do that, then I'd really just rather. Saves time and money.
