Great, because my baby name book and baby name app show the pronunciation as mo-nuh, no extra syllable or aaaah sound. One says it's an alternate spelling for Mona.

Actually, OP is correct. Moana is pronounced "Moe-AH-nah" and is Polynesian. It means ocean. Unfortunately, it doesn't translate well to the written language and therefore looks like "Moan-ah". Which is why I wouldn't use it as a name if you're not living in like...Hawaii or something. People will constantly be calling her "Mona" and making fun of her for having "Moan" in her name. 

I'd go with Mirabella. But that's because it's my DD's middle name. Wink
