How and when did your labor start? Elle&Cole 2 kids; 1 angel baby; Rio Rancho, NM, United States 23772 posts

Was it a long, drawn out contracting process? Or a quick on set of contractions in the middle of the night?

With dd I started having mild contractions at 37+6 weeks around 7pm and by 11pm I was in transition and she was born at 4am...lol. Just wondering how it might start this time! Let's hear some stories :)

With DS2 I was contracting every 3 minutes for 3 days before I delivered.  Once I hit 7 cm it flew by though and I was holding him in an hour and fifteen minutes.  He was born at 42+5

With my daughter I had a few mild contractions then my water broke at 7:30 I was 4 cm. Four hours later i was 7 and 10 minutes later I was holding her. She was born at 37+6

My first was a c section though so that labor story doesn't help this.

With my first I was set to be induced at 41 weeks.  My water broke walking to car after lunch headed home to get my bag.  It was a 9 hour labor.

With my second I had my membranes stripped at a doc appt, 39 weeks 4 days. I started contracting as we left the hospital.  She was born 9 hours later, 1:15am, 39 weeks 5 days...in the back of an ambulance.

My third was an induction at 40 weeks 3 days.  9 hours

My fourth was spontaneous.  40 weeks 4 days.  I had a couple contractions while I was outside with my husband that freaked me out.  She was born roughly 45 min later on my living room floor.

With my first I started having contractions when I went to bed at 39 weeks n 4 days. I decided it was actual labor the next day around 4 went to the birthing center and she was born at 9:29 pm. so it was about a 24 hour process. Although I was having contractions every 15-30 minutes for a week before actual labor. Ugh. I'm hoping my labor doesn't start like that again..

A week before my due date my son had not really been moving for 2 days. I was having a little bit of contractions. I went to the hospital they did a exam and decided to induce me because he was not responding to their test and was not doing well. That was 9am in the morning. I had my son at 9pm via emergency csection after his heart stopped every time I had a contraction. His cord was wrapped around him choking him so its great they got him out that day.

mine was really quick too. My water broke around 9 am at 39+4. I wasn't having any contractions yet, but went to the hospital. I started contracting at about 10 am. I was ready to push by 4:30, but had to wait until 5 for the dr. I pushed a few times and viola. quick and easy.

My water broke at 12:30. I started having contractions around 1. I stayed at home for an hour before going to the hospital. Arrived at the hospital around 2:20. I was dilated to 6-7. The nurses asked about an epidural. I agreed to have one. After the nurses walked out I started screaming. He was crowning and ready to go. I pushed for 19 minutes, and he was born at 4:30. I was 38 weeks and 5 days.

With my first I had long drawn out contractions for 3 days.  Midday of the 3rd day I was like I'm so over this and almost went to the hospital (we planned a homebirth) but eventually snapped out of it and just decided that we'd stop expecting her to be born anytime soon (I think this was transition).  Around midnight contractions became super intense and about 30 minutes later I told DH the baby was coming he said "ok!" and climbed into bed and got under the coversShy and I said No! the baby's coming like right now!"  She was born about 20 minutes later.

With my second I went really wasn't feeling well when we went grocery shopping the afternoon prior so I decided to stay in the car.  That night I could tell I was probably in labor bc I was contracting all throughout the night, but was determined to not make a big deal out of it.  That morning about 9 am it was intense enough for me to know this is really it, but nothing too bad until I got to the last 3-5 contractions.  She was born at 1pm.

We'll see what happens with #3!

I didn't have not 1 cramp, contraction, Braxton hick or anything my entire pregnancy. I didn't think my pregnancy was ever going to end. Then the morning before my due date (9am), I heard a "Pop" sound, which was my water breaking.... all over my bed. Then the contractions started soon as my water broke. Baby was born at 5:47p the day before my due date .

My first was an induction at 40.5 weeks. Labor lasted 36hrs and was miserable.
My second I thought would never come. I was dilated to a 4 for three weeks.  One night hubs and I had sex and he came in me. I woke up with contractions and had a dr appt that day to discuss induction because I was almost 2 weeks overdue.  So I waited out the contractions and went to my appt and the doctor sent me to the hospital. We got there at noon. I was at a 5. I didn't progress after a few hours so they decided to break my water. Immediately the contractions got 10x stronger. Hubby and I walked around the floor through contractions then came back to get checked. I was at a 7. I got in the birthing tub and felt like pushing within ten minutes. They didn't believe me but checked again and  he was crowning. He was born at 8lb 2oz at 41.5 weeks.  Best experience ever and the entire ordeal lasted about 2.5 hours
