So I just got back from the doctor and he said my cervix was soft and thin but no dilation yet. He also said the head was low.....what does this mean? Am I almost ready?? Can my cervix be thin and not dilated? If so, how do I get it to dilate lol? I'm confused.
It thins out just before it dilates, usually that is. Getting a lot of contractions is the best way to make it dilate. So maybe start talking some long walks or having sex to see if it helps.

My cervix started shortening a couple of weeks ago but I am not dilated yet. You can thin out without dilation- they are different, although related, processes. My cervix is soft and ripe and I have lost part of my mucous plug so I know dilation is right around the corner- though I am in the opposite position from you. I am trying to prevent dilation. LOL
I kind of want to know about the head being low becayuse my DR said the same thing.
Thanks. Yeah, my doctor said that if I don't go into labor by week 40, he'll induce me the next day, which is fine with me....I'd just love to get it over with now. I hope it doesn't take forever to start dilating. Is swimming good for that too?
my doctor said my sons head was extemly low in my pelvis so low that the ultrasound tech couldnt even get a clear view anymore
I know, I just bumped into an old friend that I hadn't seen in about 6 years, back then I was a little chunky and lost some weight since then, she didn't even realize i was pregnant lol. She was shocked then wh en i told her I was ni ne months pregnant she really went into shock. She said she couldn't tell, that I even looked thinner than in high school. I thought it was really funny.
