So at my last two appointments I guess I had trace amounts of protein in my urine. My blood pressure is good & has been my entire pregnancy. My doctor hasn't said anything about it being bad, except she tells me to drink more water.
Is this a really bad thing? I imagine if it's bad my doctor would voice her concern, but so far nothing.
I've had protein in my urine since I was 6 weeks and I'm 15 weeks now, BP is good, everything else is good, I got a bad kidney infection which led to stones, she is telling you to drink water to prevent a kidney infection, your protein isn't very high to alarm her.
Protein in urine can mean pre-eclampsia. I had it at the end of my pregnancy with no signs of it my entire pregnancy. Are you swollen? If you de notice your face, hands, legs or feet get swollen call your doctor, they might want to check your BP and urine again.
I also had traces in my urine. I went from traces to +1 for the last 6 weeks. They told me to just watch for signs of pre-eclampisa. At 37 weeks my bp started to go up a little and a little more at 38 then a little more at 39 so my doctor made an induce date on my due date so my bp could not go up any more. I went in to the hospital and it was fine we went ahead and induced at that time.
Quoting Cassie Joy:
Well I definitely hope that I don't get preeclampsia. I'll just have to keep an eye out for symptoms.
I always spill protien because my kidneys dont work right, but from what Ive read on it, as long as its trace amounts its not a big deal, but could be a predictor of a problem. So as long as your dr. isnt worried, I wouldnt be.
No, having trace amts of protein isn't a cause for alarm AT ALL, it just means right now your kidneys are working overtime bc of the baby thats all and bc of that a small amount of protein has leaked past the basement membrane in your kidneys where it normally wouldn't bc protein is so large. Anywho, if you were to continue to have it or had a larger quantity then they would say something bc only then woould they suspect thta something elso was going on, so don't worry at all. It's totally normal hon, your body is working for two!!!
Okay so I have another quick question regarding this. Everytime I go into the doctor my urine is on the darker side because usually I only woke up an hour or so before my appointment. I do drink water a ton all through-out the day, but I feel like when I go to my appointments they see early morning concentrated urine. Do you think that that has something to do with it being there? I'm going to wake up earlier before my next appointment and start drinking my water like I normall do & see if maybe that makes any difference.
