Decorating a nursery when you cant paint...??? be back someday 1 child; Cairo, New York 11140 posts

Micah and I finally got an apartment!!! HOOOOORAY! lol We move in hopefully this comming friday or next wednesday :) Its a cute little 2 bedroom so we'll actually have a nursery for Korben that we can decorate.

Our only problem (well, annoyance more than problem) is that we cannot paint. The walls are a light creamy white and the carpets are tan. Its kinda dull. I was wondering if you momma's in similar situations had any ideas on how we can make our son's room bright and cheery. We want to do a jungle/safari/animal theme... Oh and our baby furniture is brown or tan :( So its lacking in color there too.

Any cool ideas?

(if you can share pictures of cool decorating ideas you used I would appreciate it)

what exactly do you mean you 'can't paint'? like you don't have the skills, or you don't want to smell it being preggo and all?

when my bf and i moved into our new apartment, my dad painted the extra bedroom for us while me and my bf were gone. and he left all the windows open and fans on. it ended up looking really cute! no pics though...

idk if that's the kind of advice you needed.

In my daughters nursery (my first) I got posters and stuff and put on the walls. Her bathroom is now done in safari and a lot of craft stores have them. . I got mine at Hobby Lobby.

Instead of painting, you can always hang fabric in like a drapey fashion to add color!

Try colorful framed pictures or something... Then maybe, if you don't have bedding for the crib or what not, you can match the colors on the wall to the colors on the bed. Colorful stuffed animals are always cute too =] Potterybarnkids.com has some really high quality, really cute, decorating stuff. I started buying stuff not too long ago, one or a couple things at a time when I had the money, so I didn't go broke lol. Good luck though, nurserys are so much fun to decorate!

watch HGTV a lot of those shows give you good ideas. They dont neccessarily do nurserys but they're color schemes are great!!

they now have decals that peel off the walls really easy. you can get them at BRU they don't have every bedding style but, the one you have might have them. Also, a neat "wall paper" treatment for apts is buy fabric you love, spray it w/fabric starch and then press it to the walls, apply a second layer of the starch and it stays up until you take it down. you'll probably have to wash the walls a bit but, it does no damage to the exsisting paint. :)
