My baby was born on July 24th at 35 weeks exactly via c-section perfectly healthy.A week after i was discharged she stopped eating and was very lethargic so i took her to the emergency and she was later diagnosed as having a staph infection.Shes been there for 7 days so far.Has anyone else been in this situation? If so how long before your baby finally came home?

My daughter was in the PICU for 14 days after she was born. She was 3 days old when I had to take her to the hopsital because she was very lethargic and not waking up for bottles and such.

They coudln't find out what was wrong though. The ER gave her antibotics right away because her temp was very low and her resperations were low as well. They transported her to a childrens hospital, but they never really found out what was wrong. They ran every test on her known to man from a spinal tap to a cat scan and everything in between.

She is very healthy now though. She was born at 38 weeks but had the gestation of a 37 week old....

I hope your little baby gets to come home soon! How is she doing now?

shes doing alot better, shes more alert and she wakes up when i come and see her. They have her on 4 different antibiotics at the moment, they did a spinal tap and it came back negative and shes had 2 negative blood cultures after the positive onewhich means the infection is going down.Im kinda upset though because they're still not bottlefeeding her yet shes fed through an iv but her stomach is still empty:(I cant wait to bring her back home.

I appreciate the prayers,I sure do need it im going through alot now. This is my second baby i have a two yr old little boy.Shes doing better she had a transfusion of platelets because they were low.She looks completely normal now,no more lethargy and the way she sucks on her pacifier i can tell shes ready to eat but theyre not feeding her still.Just waiting on the infection to be gone i guess, her crp levels have been the same for the past 2 days:(im hoping they start going down some tomorrow.

My son was born at 35 weeks and developed a staph infection while in the NICU. He ended up staying 20 days but he will be one year old on Wednesday. I had a two year old son at home with me. I know that staph is scary and it can be very bad, but doctors are very careful with babies and they will make sure that your child is just fine. Doctors take better care of babies then adults, I think :)
Dont worry, your baby has special angels.
