A Rough Check.. Cervix up High.. 12345abc 1 child; 1, 2, United States 1695 posts

So today I went to my 38wk appt, and he said I'm 75% effaced, but only fingertip, just less than 1cm dialated, same as last week, except I wasn't thinned at all last week. So some progress!! (thank god) But he was having the hardest time checking me, and he said it was because my cervix was up SUPER high. He had to go WAY up and then he pulled it down.. which .. OH MY GOD... was SO painful! I was breathing like a mad man, pushing myself up the table, I was about to ask him to stop, but I knew that it would help bring on labor. The baby is already estimated at 8lbs..which is a little scary because I broke my tailbone and pelvis last year, and we're hoping he was going to stay small so I could deliver naturally. We're going to try natural, and then if anything happens, we can just move to a C-Section. So my DR is hoping I deliver him this week so I can do it that way w/o him being too big.

But my Q is.. Has anyone else had a cervix that was super high up?? So that your DR had to pull it down?? It was quite a rough check, and I've heard with those that there is a possibility of going into labor after. I'm not sure if he did it to check, or if he was trying to help my body along. Just wondering if anyone went into labor after a rough check or if this has happened to anyone else :)

i don't know if my cervix was high or not, but at my 40 week visit, my doctor said I was a 'loose 1' and he tried to 'stretch' me to a 2. I just about fell off the damn table!

I had a high cervix, so I know the pain your talking about when being examined. After the examination I started to have contractions but then they stop.

I don't know about a high cervix, but my first L&D nurse when I had my oldest had some short ass fingers and I almost whomped her ass.
