Did You Get Pregnant Using Pre-Seed? Whitnaaaaaay Due March 27; 2 kids; Maryland 2365 posts

I know there have been lots of posts about Pre-Seed lately, but I wanna know how many ladies on Gaga have had success using it. We used it about 5 months ago with no success so I gave up. I just hate that everytime I read the testimonials on the pre-seed site everyone seems to have gotten a BFP on the first or second try...uggggh! Anyway, I ordered the new kind that is in a tube and has several applicators so you can use as much or as little as you'd like. Soo, how many ladies have had success with Pre-Seed?

I would say that pre-seed did help with this pregnancy. I liked it and I would use it again.

I'm not trying to be rude so please don't take the following comment as that. I am in the same boat as you (TTC for 16 months).

When someone wants a baby so bad they are willing to try anything just to get pregnant. I bought Vitex, Geritol vitamins, Pre-seed, the OV Watch, the over the counter fertility tests..you name it.And here I am..still not pregnant.

Now I am a firm believer that it doesn't matter what you buy or what you do..when it's the right time, it's the right time. Period. Please don't get upset or down if you buy all these things and they just don't work..it will happen eventually! (by "it" I mean pregnancy) and I really truly do hope that you find something that does work!

I agree with Jen, but I also agree with Whitney, gotta keep yourself busy in this crazy TTC game. ANd yes, I put it in after we BD, laid there for about 30 mins to an hour (and actually my OB told me there was no need for a pillow if you have a normal cervix, but she told me to lay there for a while)....

Like I said, I am not saying that it is for sure what caused me to get preggo. Just happened to be on the same cycle...

Good luck! Hope I see some BFP's soon!

I never get EWCM either, bought pre-seed...it didnt work (used 3 times in fertile window)..so i started doing my research. Obviously we know it is not a fertility aid, merely a sperm friendly lube. But it has been proven that using too much pre seed can actually stop you from getting pregnant.

A small amount (if you are dry) would be fine, but using a whole application could cause far more harm than good. Mucus has a number of properties that make it ideal for sperm to be in and survive in. It contains fructose which is necessary to feed the enzyme mechanism for sperm motility. It has a linear, sub-microscopic structure that directs and guides sperm along the cervix, or into the "crypts" along the cervix where they can be stored for a little while. If you watch sperm swimming into and through mucus you can see the directional nature of these sperm pathways.

Cervical mucus also serves to help in the capacitation of the sperm. Sperm as first ejaculated are incapable of penetration into a egg. They have to undergo important biochemical and physiological changes to do with the head portion of the sperm known as the acrosome, plus the tail movement changes from a wave-like motion to a whiplash action. These changes take place as the sperm progress along the female reproductive tract (or in special culture medium in the lab, for IVF). Movement into cervical mucus brings about the first stage of this capacitation process, and this can be monitored by observation of the change in the tail activity. A very useful laboratory test of sperm function.

Pre-seed, even if non-toxic to sperm, will not be able to carry out these functions. The danger is when there is too much of this lube sloshing around it will act to dilute down the mucus, and especially so when there is less mucus than normal, and will impair sperm access to the true mucus in the os (the entrance to the cervix). This will make thing worse rather than better.

Hope that's of some help

ETA: as crazy n gross as it sounds, im actually beginning to consider real egg whites, afterall these full of protein which will help will some of the above processes. Also its alot cheaper. I think for every 10 BFPs i've read of using them, i've seen 1 story of infection. Hmmm what to do?!!
