Is BAH used to calculate your family's gross income when applying for WIC, or does gross income only count the service member's actual pay, not including BAH? And what exactly does gross income mean? My hubby is an E-4 with 3 years of service, and I'm not sure if we'd qualify. Thanks for any help you can give me!
does he get a pay stub? there is gross income(before taxes) and net inome(after taxes) on there.
and how do so many military wives get to be SAHMs if you still get to qualify for WIC? i wanna just stay home, but we cant figure out how to do it financially. is it because you get other benefits or something with it, so it helps even everything out? just wondering.
what is the ammount u have to be under....is it 40,000??
tell him to look on my pay and the statement should show it
I'm actually not a SAHM. I go to school full time, and work 20 hrs. a week. I too wish that I could SAH! If BAH doesn't count, then we qualify even with my salary, I believe. I have an appointment on Tuesday at the WIC office, so I guess I'll have to wait and find out for sure. I just didn't want to waste the gas to get there if I already knew that BAH counted towards gross income. Thanks for all the replies though, it helps a lot.
So we're in the same boat Andi. I'll let you know how my appointment goes on Tuesday. I just realized that there is a WIC office on base, and I'm wondering if I should cancel my other appointment and make one at the office on base, since they'd have the most experience with military families. But I guess the laws are the same no matter which office I pick.
they do not add in your BAH it's just the gross pay, so i think you'll be fine!
I just got a pamphlet on this from our hospital on base, It said that our BAH is not to be included in our earnings, my hub is and E-4 too and you should qualify. Cuz its like 1700 or something like that for a family of 3 but youd have to double check on that cuz i dont member its in the car and i dont feel like going outside lol
I gotta try to get in wic too still
