they can't fire you for being pregnant, it's illegal! BUT they can make your job miserable..and not even mention you being pregnant..that's how they get around the legalities...just make sure you are on time and perform your job right...but employers turn out to be real assholes once they find out an employee is pregnant....and if they try to give you any crap about it, like if you have to go to the dr or you're having a complication, just threaten them....

In Nevada, you can be. If it is a right to work state they can fire you for wearing the color purple to work... When I finally told my boss, they put me on part time and then decided they needed someone there full time to which I said that I can do full time, and they said no because of what will happen during my maternity leave. Anyways look up to see if its a Right to Work state... If it is then they can

I worked at an independent coffee shop for two years... the owner's family was like a second family to me... I was hardworking and never late... he called me his best employee multiple times. Then I got pregnant.... it is illegal to fire someone over being pregnant... but he didn't have to say thats why he fired me. It just "wasn't working out" for him.

Oh- and he fired me over a voice mail.

They cant technically fire you for bein pregnant. BUT they can fire you for being pregnant, but claim it was other "dumb small" things. I had morning sickness really bad, and i even had a note form my doc to be put on light duty (which i wasnt), and every little thing i did, they wrote me up for.

I asked to go home, because i could barely stand up and one manager said no. So then i said well i need to go to the bathroom and throw up and she said, "i dont belive you! Throw up right here on the floor." I said okay, and then she sent me home, and wrote me up for a half call out! Eventually they got enough stupid write ups to fire me.

Oh and another time, i got really hot, and dizzy, almost passed out, and when i left to go to the hospital they wrote me up again! I worked at costco as a cashier assistant. Those of you who shop there, know that they basically have to pick up heavy stuff and load up carts. I had to lift case of water, soda, juice. They had one GUY blowing up balloons and folding clothes. When i asked to do that, they told me i dont need to get lazy while i was pregnant!

So just be careful, they cant put down "fired for being pregnant" but they can make it miserable. Hope everything turns out well. [oh and sorry for it being so long its just a touchy subject for me]

It is a federal law that they cannot discriminate against you if you are pregnant. It is under one of the protected classes of people like race or disability status.
