Found this on babycenter.com so you should look into it:

Bridget Swinney, nutritionist
No one knows for sure. Some pregnant women develop strong cravings for non-food items such as dirt, ashes, clay, chalk, ice, laundry starch, baking soda, soap, toothpaste, paint chips, plaster, wax, hair, coffee grounds, and even cigarette butts. This phenomenon is called pica (which is Latin for magpie, a bird that will eat almost anything).

No one knows what causes these cravings, but a combination of biochemical, psychological, and cultural factors may be at work. In some studies, these bizarre cravings have been linked to an iron deficiency

i craved soap too with both my pregnancies. I craved mostly dishwash soap but also loved laundry detergent as well. I even licked the dishwashing sponge once, but never did it again. Also my hugest craving was uncooked rice right out of the bag. Whenever I smelled or saw soap, I would immediately want some uncooked rice. I ate a whole lot of it too and it did some damage to my teeth. :(I have low iron and so maybe thats why.

I crave powdered anything. Edible or not. Lately I've been really contemplating eating my boyfriend coffee grounds, even though I KNOW it'd be soo nasty. And have gone thru a bag of ice every couple days.

I thought I had PICA - my mom had it with all of her pregnancies - but my iron levels were normal at my glucose test.
Maybe I'm just strange.

Oh my God, woman!!!! You have no idea how good it is to hear someone else say this!!! I want to guzzle my dish soap, and my powdered laundry detergent makes me crazy I want to eat it sooooooo bad!!!!! You are not alone!!! I Googled "Craving for laundry detergent" and your post came up! LOL OMG I can't stand it! Everything powdered calls my name, but especially the laundry detergent. I ate a mouthful of baking soda to try to get my mind off of the powdered laundry soap! I am 35 weeks pregnant---these cravings started at around 30 weeks. I lick my fingers when I do dishes!! I aint gonna lie!! LOL Also, as a side note---Kleenex boxes! I want to eat them like graham cracker! LOL I don't think it's PICA, I have worked with folks who have that disorder---I think there must be some specific nutrients we are lacking ... but just like you---I have no idea which ones!!!

So funny what pregnancy does to us women. I've got through 6 trays of ice today.. my husband is completely confused but I literally day dream about it. They say ice is the only pica craving you can indulge in haha.
