Smoke funnel for ear infection? Whitney Pie 2 kids; Catania, Italy 31980 posts

My ear started hurting this weekend and I knew it was an ear infection coming on. I have them at least once a year because I am anal when it comes to cleaning my ears, I clean them a LOT during the day. I need something for the pain now since I have to wait until tomorrow to get stuffed with antibiotics.

I don't know what it's called but my Nonna's friend used to do this. She'd make a cone out of wax paper or something and burn the end of it and let the smoke go into the ear. Supposedly this helped get all the crap out of your ear. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Have any links? My work computer is slow or else I'd google it but I don't know exactly what I'm looking for.

warm some olive oil in the microwave, dip a q-tip into it, and put it in your ear. It works for me, I get a lot of ear infections too.

OK, don't laugh at me but I fill a sock up with rice, close it with a rubberband with no metal connectors, and throw it in the microwave fro about two minutes till it is warm-hot than lay on a pillow with the rice sock under your ear. Works for me-again don't laugh at me!

YES!! Ear candling/coning! Thanks everyone for the links/info. I'm freakin' miserable. Wish me luck that I can find something remotely similar to any of that stuff.

Unforunately, GNC lost it's contract with the military here and went out of business so we no longer have one on post. I did happen to see sheets of beeswax at the PX the other day, it was a marked down product from GNC. Is this the same thing?

I'm so sorry, Whitters. I have no experience with ear infections, though. I hope you're able to find some relief soon.
