I haven't gone poop since Tuesday 9/16. That was morning before I had an emergency c-section. Did any of you women who have had a c-section have this problem afterwards? How long after the surgery were you able to poop?

Take a stool softner, eat more fiber, and at least one salad a day. Just wondering, are you taking pain killers? The reason why I ask is that pain killers can cause constipation, if so then drink a lot more water.

While I was in the hospital they gave me a stool softener everyday!! The day I went home I had the biggest poop I had ever had in my entire life!! TMI. What sucked was after that day a couple of days later I strained to get one out and ended up getting a hemorrhoid!!!

I feel for you! I had a c-section on 8/28/08 and I didn't poo for 4 days. I was totally freaking out about it! The hospital had been giving me stool softeners everyday that I was in there... but they didn't help because I was taking pain meds and those cause constipation. I was still taking the stool softeners after I got home, but I also had to keep taking the pain meds until I could handle the pain. Honestly, I felt bogged down. lol I was miserable until I finally pooped! What helped me was that a nurse at the hospital told me to put a stool in front of the toilet and put my feet on it while sitting on the toilet. She said that the trick is to getting your knees above your hips... then gravity will help a lot. haha It worked! Take stool softeners and put a stool in the bathroom! It will happen... and you will feel so much better once it does! lol

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am taking pain meds and I know that is one of their side effects. I hate not being able to poop. I ate some raisin bran this morning and ate a salad for dinner. I hope and pray that it will help. I have been drinking tons and tons of water too. I am willing to give your suggestions a try. I am just so nervous about my stitches coming out or something. UGH! I can't even pass gas sometimes. (TMI) Well thanks and sorry couldn't post sooner my baby was hungry after I posted this topic.

Get some suppositories.. and take stool softeners. It was a couple days before I had a good BM too. And I had painful gas! ... so not looking forward to my csection on Friday :(

Hope you are feeling ok besides that!! Hope your recovery goes quickly!

They gave me a suppository in the hospital, but it took me about 1 week and a half until I finally pooped, and it sure hurt!

Did you ever feel pressure or pain in your vagina whenever you needed to pee really bad? My nurse said it was my bladder pushing against my uterus or something like that. It hurt bad like I wanted to cry. Today it happened again. I thought maybe I needed to go poop. But still nothing happened. Should I call my doctor?

I don't remember feeling any pressure like that. But yeah, you will have alot of cramping and pains ... your colon is on the left side.. down by your hip. That is where you will feel most of the pains. You could get some dried prunes to try or drink prune juice. It will happen soon enough, just be prepared for a lot to come out and it to not feel very good.
