"diaper area" problems Mama Alison 19 kids; Meridian, Idaho 2770 posts

My daughter has had these bumps in her diaper area for about three months... I keep taking her to the doctor and they've given us three different creams for it so far & nothing's working. It's been getting worse and worse. Her diaper is changed about every three hours and she's never sitting in a wet diaper for too long. If her diaper's "soiled", it's changed right away... First, her doctor said it was a fungal infection. The creams she was giving us weren't working so we took her to another doctor and she said it was from sitting in a wet diaper... Her diaper's always changed when she's wet so that can't be it. I've tried letting her air out for awhile and letting her sit in a warm bath when the bumps get really bad and nothing's helping... They look like pimples or something and once in awhile, she gets a really big one. They just look so painful & I'm worried there's something else wrong with her and they're not getting it. Has anyone experienced this with their kids? What do you think I should do? I feel so bad cause my son's sick and I'm trying everything to help my daughter, but I feel so bad for both of them :(

Have you tried using different diapers like a different brand?

My 4 year old (not in diapers) gets bumpsin her private area and inner thighs they say it's molluscum...a virus that can last a long time. They get yucky sometimes, but they get better on their own too.....sorry I'm not much help.

***ETA - my daughters don't look like the warts pictured on that page....they look like pimples with little white heads

We were having the same problems and it was the diapers and wipes we were using. We switched to gdiapers but if you don't want to use them you can switch to 7th generation diapers which are clorine free and have no chemicals what so ever. And try different brands of diaper rash cream. Or it could be from the heat. You just have to keep her cool and diaperless as much as possible. Oh and we also used the baby aveeno oatmeal bath soak that's a powder your pour in the tub and it helped a lot.

my daughter would get something just like this, they (pedi) told me to try this...
a pea size amount of Lotramine (anti fungal cream) and a pea size amount of 1% hydracordasone cream (spelling is off, sorry). mix it together and just put this on her like you would diaper cream. It worked really good for my daughter, maybe it will your's as well!
