Today was my 37 weeks check up and she said my cervix is still high, what does that mean. I get induced next week and she said if it doesnt come down any time during induction i would have to get the csection has anyone. has anyonebeen told there cervix was high anddid it go lower. or did you have a vaginal birth
"Before labor begins, the cervix drops into the vaginal canal at an angle that makes it point toward the back (posterior). One sign of progress is that the cervix has become anterior, meaning that it's position has realigned to allow the baby to drop into the vagina (birth canal)." ...taken from here: http://www.birthingnaturally.net/birth/progress/exam.html
I was told that my cervix was really far up. I don't know if it came down or was supposed to but I did give birth vaginally.
Quoting Miss Megan Amber:
Let me start by saying what happened to me isn't typical, and shouldn't scare you.
I was really high all through my pregnancy. My water broke tues pm. My cervix descended a little, but after 35 hours of broken water, dialating only 5 cm, never fully thinning, pitocin, terrible pain and ultimately a c-section, Reilley was born @ 1:20 this afternoon.
The OB on call at the hospital said the middle of my pelvis was too narrow for him (or my cervix) to descend, and he actually got stuck in my birth canal. There was no way I would have been able to deliver vaginally.
