Cleaning pacifiers before first use....Boil? Uppity Negro 3 kids; Michigan 1087 posts

We used to be told to boil them before the first use. That was 10 years ago.

Is that still done before the first use of the pacifier and bottle nipples? Packing my hospital bag and wanted to know if it is recommended to boil the pacifer first or just wash it in warm soapy water.

What do you think?

I boiled them, I had no idea though lol. They got water inside of them...After that, when I used to boil Kayden's bottles I would just dip the nipple for 1min or 2.

Some directions in bottles say to boil, some say warm soapy water. But I always Boiled my bottles prior to use, and for about a month after they were born. (although even the pediatrician said warm soapy water was fine. What's the deal with the chemical in the plastic? (PBA) I read somewhere that hot water made it leak from the plastic. So would boiling be bad??????

Wash with soap and water, and then boil them for 10 min.
